Membership

Step into the world of knowledge and become a member of our library! Our doors are open to everyone – students, professors, and all lovers of the written word, and membership is completely free. Simply visit us with a personal ID or student index and fill out the registration form. We look forward to becoming a part of your academic and personal journey!

  • The primary users of the Library are students and professors of the Catholic Faculty of Theology at the University of Sarajevo. They have the right to take library materials outside the reading rooms, with the exception of reference literature, diploma theses, and journals. Reference literature, diploma theses, and journals may only be used within the reading rooms. To enroll for the new academic year, all borrowed books must be returned beforehand. Furthermore, graduates and students withdrawing from the Faculty will only be able to collect their documents after returning all books.

    Students from other faculties and other users must present a personal ID and complete a registration form when using library materials. External users are not permitted to take materials outside the Library premises.

  • Library membership is free for all types of users.

  • External users also have the right to use the Library, and library membership is not restricted by age or geographical location.

  • Primary users register in the catalog by personal visit and by completing a registration form upon presentation of a personal ID or student index.

Reservations and Borrowing

Is the desired book currently on loan? No problem! Reserve your copy in person, by email, or via the online catalog, and we will notify you as soon as it becomes available. Borrowable materials can be taken out for a period of 15 days, while rare copies and journals can be researched in the comfortable environment of our reading rooms.

Copies currently on loan can be reserved.

Reservations can be made by visiting the Library in person, through your personal profile on the COBISS Library Catalog, or via the Library’s email.

Library staff will notify you via email when you can pick up your reserved copy.

The following may not be taken from the Library premises:
1) journals
2) reference literature
3) diploma, master’s, and doctoral theses.

Other materials as determined by staff.

These materials may be used in the reading rooms during library operating hours.

Books ordered by 9 AM can be picked up the same day between 10 AM and 1 PM. Materials ordered after 10 AM can be picked up the following day by 1 PM.

Ordered copies can be picked up within 3 days, after which the order will be cancelled. You can order 3 copies per order, and up to 10 by arrangement with staff.

The loan period for library materials is 15 days. This period may depend on the number of copies available in the Library.

The book return deadline can be extended only if it has not been reserved by another user, and no later than one day before its expiry, via the Library’s email or the COBISS catalog.

If you are unable to return books in person, a colleague may do so on your behalf.

Whether you need assistance with finding literature, navigating online databases, or advice on structuring your work, please do not hesitate to contact us. Together, we will find the path to all the information you need for successful studies and brilliant papers.

The Library provides its users with various information services:

  • assistance in finding literature for all types of scientific and research papers
  • assistance in formulating information queries (selecting keywords for searching)
  • assistance in searching the online catalog
  • assistance in finding online scientific articles in various databases and scientific journal portals
  • advice on topic formulation and paper structuring
  • user education as needed, in accordance with expressed needs related to the Faculty’s study program, and in cooperation with the relevant professor.

Interlibrary Loan

Searching for a book not on our shelves? We will find it for you! Through our interlibrary loan service, we connect you with libraries across Bosnia and Herzegovina and worldwide. Contact us and expand your horizons – boundaries exist only for us to cross them together.

The Library enables borrowing of materials from other libraries in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond.

Loan conditions and fees depend on the country from which the material is borrowed.

E-Catalog

The entire world of books is at your fingertips! Our online e-catalog (COBISS) allows you to search not only our library’s collection but also those of all University of Sarajevo libraries from the comfort of your home. Plan your next reading, check availability, and always stay one step ahead.

Literature Acquisition Proposal

Your opinion is important to us! Help us enrich our treasury of knowledge and suggest books you believe are essential for theological studies. Every suggestion you make is valuable and helps us make the library an even better place for learning and growth. Fill out the short form and become a co-creator of our book collection.

Primary Library users have the opportunity to suggest the acquisition of theological editions they deem necessary for students or professors for theological studies.

You can do this by filling out the following form.
Each proposal will be reviewed by the Library Council, and the suggested edition will be acquired based on their decision and financial possibilities.

Education Users

In addition to regular training held every Wednesday from 12 PM to 1 PM, for any difficulties in searching and using databases, users can contact the friendly staff at the catalog desk to arrange an additional, individual training session tailored to their needs.
