Offices and professional services

The Dean’s Office is a sub-organizational unit of the Faculty through which, through the Secretariat and professional services, professional-administrative, legal, personnel and general affairs, as well as financial-accounting and information-documentation affairs are carried out. The Dean’s Office consists of the Dean, who is the management body of the Faculty and its head, and the Vice-Deans and Secretary who assist him in his work.

The Vice-Dean for Teaching and International Cooperation is responsible for the organization, implementation and improvement of teaching at the Faculty, coordinates the work of departments and contributes to the development and quality of study programs. Together with all participants, he/she works to ensure a better student experience and the application of global standards in teaching.

The Vice-Dean is also responsible for strengthening the Faculty’s international connections, coordinating cooperation with higher education institutions in the country and abroad, and facilitating student and staff mobility through various international educational programs and partnerships.

The Vice-Dean for Science participates in the organization and improvement of the Faculty’s scientific activities. He/She is responsible for the development of scientific research work, collaborates with departments on the organization of scientific projects, and proposes measures for their quality and progress.

The Vice-Dean keeps records of scientific projects and coordinates the cooperation of teachers, associates and researchers of the Faculty at domestic and international conferences and gatherings. He is responsible for planning the procurement of equipment necessary for scientific activities and directs scientific and educational cooperation with other institutions.

Coordinates and manages the Faculty’s publishing activities, chairs the Publishing Committee and, in cooperation with the departments, takes care of the procurement of professional journals and materials.

The Vice-Dean for Development and Finance assists the Dean in his work and is responsible for the financial management and sustainable development of the Faculty. He proposes development strategies, capital investment programs, and cooperation programs with church and state institutions.

The Vice-Dean is in charge of preparing the Faculty’s budget, supervising the financial operations and management of the Faculty’s assets, and provides financing according to the legal framework and general acts of the University and the Faculty.

The Faculty Secretariat performs professional-administrative, legal, personnel, financial-accounting and information-documentation tasks and is responsible for ensuring and improving quality in all areas of the Faculty’s work. Through the coordinated activities of its services, the Secretariat ensures the proper, legal and efficient work of all parts of the Faculty, and provides support to academic staff and students in everyday administrative processes.

The Secretariat is organized into specialized units covering all key areas of faculty administration: legal and human resources, finance and accounting, student affairs, and quality assurance and improvement. The work of the Secretariat is coordinated by the Faculty Secretary, ensuring that all administrative functions contribute to achieving the academic goals and mission of the Faculty.

The Library of the Catholic Faculty of Theology, University of Sarajevo is one of the leading higher education libraries in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a rich tradition and an exceptional collection of professional, scientific and historical literature and theological publications. It is open to all students, staff, researchers and external users interested in the fields of theology, philosophy, social sciences and humanities.

The library is located at Josipa Stadlera 5 in Sarajevo, and covers an area of ​​250 m² with two reading rooms and eight depots. It offers more than 100,000 books and more than 130 periodical titles, including rare copies, valuable local collections and a significant collection of works by the Church Fathers and parliamentary documents. The materials are professionally classified and mostly available through free access, while special collections are used exclusively in the reading rooms.

Library users can use all services free of charge, including book lending, reading room work, access to professional databases, periodicals and electronic resources. Literature for exams, reference materials and rare and valuable copies are intended exclusively for reading room work, and members also have access to computers, the internet and assistance from library staff.

The library primarily serves students and professors of theology and religious sciences, as well as all researchers, pupils and retirees engaged in scientific research, teaching or cultural work.

The student service takes care of all administrative tasks related to the students of the Faculty, from enrollment to study until graduation. The service keeps official records on students, prepares documentation for enrollments, semester certifications and issuing diplomas, and provides information and support to students in all phases of their studies.

Through regular communication with students, the Service receives their comments and suggestions, assists in resolving administrative issues, and coordinates activities related to exam deadlines and teaching. The Service cooperates with academic staff, the Vice-Dean for Teaching, and other services of the Faculty to ensure quality support to students and efficient management of study processes.

The Quality Assurance Office is a professional department of the Faculty that provides professional and administrative support in all processes related to quality assurance and improvement. The office works in close cooperation with the Quality Assurance Committee, the academic management and the Quality Management Committee of the University of Sarajevo

The Office maintains a database of staff, resources and scientific activities, monitors academic indicators such as student pass rates and faculty workload, and provides support in the student evaluation process. Through continuous analysis and reporting, the Office works to maintain high standards of work and develop the Faculty as an institution of academic excellence. In addition, the Office participates in faculty project activities and publishing activities.

The office of technical and auxiliary affairs takes care of the maintenance and condition of the building, installations and equipment of the Faculty, and performs all tasks necessary for the safe and functional operation of the physical infrastructure. The office provides continuous support through daily cleaning, maintenance and quick intervention in the event of malfunctions in order to ensure its optimal operation and a pleasant environment for all members of the academic community.

Vrhbosnensia is a scientific journal of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Sarajevo. The journal’s main focus is research on relevant topics in the field of theology and philosophy. With this journal, the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Sarajevo “wants to contribute to the promotion of Catholic theological thought, ecumenism and dialogue in this region, and thus respond to the challenges of the present moment and meet the needs of the local Church, and also bring Catholic principles and thinking closer to non-Catholics in this region”, as stated in the editorial of the first issue of the journal Vrhbosnensia . The journal is open to contributions from experts in both theological and related humanities fields. The first issue of the journal Vrhbosnensia was published in 1997 and has been published twice a year since then.

The journal is referenced in the EBSCO database, in Hrčak – the portal of scientific journals of the Republic of Croatia, and in Religious & Theological Abstracts.

The Student Council of the Catholic Faculty of Theology is the official student representative body that protects the interests of students, participates in the work and decision-making in the bodies of the Faculty and the University of Sarajevo, and represents students in the higher education system.

Our mission

The Student Union acts in the interest of all KBF students, regardless of year of study or status. Our goals include:

  • representing student interests at all levels – from faculty administration to university bodies
  • development of student standards and protection of student rights
  • improving conditions for education through active participation in the process of evaluating teaching and study programs
  • promoting scientific, cultural, religious and social activities tailored to the needs of the student community.

Student Council actively:

  • considers issues of teaching quality and participates in the reform of study programs
  • organizes students and helps them exercise their rights
  • cooperates with the Student Parliament of the University of Sarajevo (SPUS) and student councils of other faculties
  • issues publications and materials relevant to students
  • ensures transparency of operations based on the principles of equality and democracy

The student council consists of:

  • Assembly – the highest body that makes key decisions (5 delegates per academic year)
  • Board of Directors – operational body that implements the decisions of the Assembly (president + 4 members)
  • Commissions – specialized bodies for various activities

The mandate of elected representatives lasts one academic year with the possibility of re-election.
