I invite you to cultivate a theology based on a personal and transforming encounter with Christ, one that seeks to be embodied in the concrete realities of humanity today.
A theologian is one who studies, thinks, ponders, but does so on his knees.
We need a theology that is inherently contextual, capable of reading and interpreting the Gospel in the conditions in which men and women live every day.
A special task of the Faculty of Theology is to provide scientific theological education for those
who have embarked on the path of priesthood and those who are preparing to fulfill
special church tasks.
Theology plays a particularly important role in seeking a synthesis of knowledge,
as well as in the dialogue between faith and reason.

Catholic theology, taught in complete fidelity to Sacred Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium of the Church, will provide a clear understanding of evangelical principles that will enrich the meaning of human life and give it new dignity.
The main purpose that theology seeks to achieve is to present
understanding of revelation and the doctrine of faith.

Dragi posjetitelji, dragi prijatelji našeg Fakulteta,
dobro došli na mrežne stranice Univerzitet u Sarajevu – Katoličkog bogoslovnog fakulteta. Naš Fakultet je mjesto gdje se vjera i razum susreću u dijalogu koji oplemenjuje, produbljuje i usmjerava cjelokupni akademski i crkveni život. U zajedništvu studenata, profesora i suradnika nastojimo izgrađivati prostor u kojem se teološka misao razvija u ozračju ozbiljne znanstvene refleksije, odgovorne crkvene službe i humanističke širine.
Naša je misija oblikovati teologe, vjeroučitelje i pastoralne djelatnike koji će u suvremenom društvu biti kompetentni svjedoci evanđelja, nositelji dijaloga i graditelji zajedništva. Polazeći od bogate tradicije teološkog studija u našim krajevima, želimo gajiti teologiju koja razumije „znakove vremena“ i hrabro promišlja izazove današnjice u svjetlu kršćanske objave.
Katolički bogoslovni fakultet je istodobno i akademska institucija i dio života Crkve. Stoga težimo izvrsnosti u nastavi, ozbiljnosti u znanstvenom radu te transparentnosti i odgovornosti u našem upravljanju. Posebnu pozornost posvećujemo razvoju međunarodne suradnje, umrežavanju s drugim teološkim fakultetima i institutima, kao i jačanju interdisciplinarnog pristupa koji povezuje teologiju s humanističkim i društvenim znanostima.
Vjerujemo da naša uloga nije samo obrazovna nego i formativna: ovdje želimo njegovati ozračje dijaloga, poštovanja i osobnog rasta, kako bi svaki student mogao otkriti i ostvariti svoj osobni i duhovni poziv. Naš Fakultet želi biti otvorena i gostoljubiva zajednica, mjesto susreta Crkve, akademije i društva.

Dear visitors, dear friends of our Faculty,
welcome to the website of the University of Sarajevo – Catholic Faculty of Theology. Our Faculty is a place where faith and reason meet in a dialogue that enriches, deepens, and guides the entire academic and ecclesiastical life. In the fellowship of students, professors, and associates, we strive to build an environment where theological thought develops in an atmosphere of serious scientific reflection, responsible ecclesiastical service, and humanistic breadth.
Our mission is to form theologians, catechists, and pastoral workers who will be competent witnesses of the Gospel, facilitators of dialogue, and builders of community in contemporary society. Drawing from the rich tradition of theological study in our regions, we aim to cultivate a theology that understands the ‘signs of the times’ and courageously reflects on today’s challenges in the light of Christian revelation.
The Catholic Faculty of Theology is simultaneously an academic institution and a part of the Church’s life. Therefore, we strive for excellence in teaching, rigor in scientific work, and transparency and accountability in our governance. We pay special attention to the development of international cooperation, networking with other theological faculties and institutes, as well as strengthening an interdisciplinary approach that connects theology with the humanities and social sciences.
We believe that our role is not only educational but also formative: here we wish to foster an atmosphere of dialogue, respect, and personal growth, so that every student can discover and fulfill their personal and spiritual calling. Our Faculty aims to be an open and welcoming community, a meeting place for the Church, academia, and society.
